There are two thing that people concentrate on while they on weight loss, their diet and their workout routine. A research study stated that people who eat a vegetarian diet while they are focusing on weight loss, loose twice more than other people who modify their vegetarian diet with non vegetarian dishes.
The research came out from University of South Carolina, where they compared the weight loss results of five groups who ate vegetarian diet and another four who went on omnivorous diet. The results were shocking. Those who were on vegan diet, not just scored better but they were twice more efficient than the one who ate non vegetarian food occasionally. The vegan diet keepers could lose twice more than the others.
There were several groups of people. There were pure vegetarians, semi vegetarians who ate meat occasionally, pesco-vegetarians or fish eaters, and also the vegetarians who ate eggs and other dairy products. The results that came in were astonishing. The people who ate a pure vegetarian diet lost 7.5 kilograms on an average while the semi vegetarians who ate meat occasionally along with the pesco-vegetarians could lose only 3 kilograms. The other group that was vegetarian but ate eggs and other dairy products lost 6.3 kilograms on average.
This is not the first ever study that has showed that vegetarian lose weight quickly but there have been many of them in the past. There was one research that was conducted by Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine at George Washington School of Medicine, which proved that the vegetarian diet can not only help people lose weight effectively and quickly but also that it can help in maintain the type 2 diabetes by controlling the blood glucose more effectively as compared to non vegetarian eaters.
Why vegetarian diet is weight loss effective? That is because the vegetarian diet is high in the content of the fibre. Fibre fills in the stomach more easily making people feel full for longer. If they feel full for longer, they eat less. So the foods that are high n fibre content and lower in the GI i.e. Glycaemic Index (that makes you feel full) help in losing weight effectively.
On the other hand it is suggested by many that low carbohydrate diets help you lose weight more efficiently and easily because the foods that are rich in carbohydrates actually increases the insulin in the body that in turn leads to fat deposits. But in fact it depends upon the quality of the carbohydrates that you intake.
