Now you must be thinking that dryness and itchy skin is caused due to the winter season approaching, it is true but then you cannot always blame it on the winter season. There are many other reasons why your skin is drier and itchier but you are not aware of it.
Read the following reasons and thus save your skin from turning flaky. The main reason for the dry skin is mainly due to less moisturizing and less water consumption, as in winters we tend to drink less water.
Sitting in front of the Heater
Winter means Thermostat or heaters, we tend to sit in front of the heater for the entire day, I know it feels good but then someway you are ripping the moisture away from your skin. Thus, it is best that you avoid sitting in front of the heater for the entire day, instead you could sit for some time, but then you can try something else like switch on the humidifier, that will not rip your skin off moisture but instead keep the room warm but with more moisture.
Too much of Scrubbing
Even though you might have heard of ‘Scrub your Skin’ but that does not mean you scrub your skin daily, it not only irritates your skin but also takes away the natural oil from your skin. The best way to keep the natural skin oil intact is by scrubbing only once a week and not the regular basis.
Especially, if you suffer from dry skin, exfoliating can be bad, as it will only worsen your condition. Nevertheless, if you are still keen on exfoliating then look for the exfoliator that has glycerin and other moisturizer.
Showering with Hot Water
Winter means taking showers with hot water, which actually is not good for your skin as it rips off your natural skin oil and thus causes the skin drier and flakier. Long baths sound good, but in winters, it is best to avoid the long showers especially with hot water, instead keep your shower time short up to 10 minutes and with luke warm water.
Your Favorite Sweaters
Winter is the time when we get to flaunt our cool and funky sweaters, but then you must have noticed that at times when you wear the sweater it causes itchiness and thus makes the skin dry. At times we even tend o just wear the warm sweater without anything cloth beneath, which is not good, it is better to wear a cotton shirt under it to avoid any friction and itchiness.
Not the right Lotion
Usually when we buy a lotion in summers, which are usually cool in nature to beat the heat, but as winter, approaches we tend to use the same lotion, which does not work. Reason being it was meant to beat the heat and cause less oiliness, whereas for winter you need a lotion that moisturizes your skin and keeps it radiant in winters.
Thus, pick a lotion that contains Glycerin or Shea butter that will keep the skin well moisturized for the entire day.
